He began his business in Roseville, Illinois, in partnership with Mr. Henry Bradshaw, a Monmouth businessman whose establishment at 55 Public Square (Spriggs & Bradshaw), featured paints and photography supplies.

Mr. William Axline Sr. owned and operated the drug store in Roseville until his retirement in 1970.

In 1960 Mr. Axline formed a partnership with his son, Mr. William Axline, Jr. and Mr. Robert Crawford. They operated the business at 55 Public Square until 1967, when the new pharmacy was built at 220 North Main Street in Monmouth.

It operated as Axline Crawford Pharmacy until 1977 when Mr. Crawford left the business. Mr. William Axline, Sr. and Mr. William Axline, Jr. operated the business together until the death of Mr. Axline Sr. in 1986.
